Shinnyo Lantern Floating for Peace

Music by Curtis Moore

On September 21, 2014, New York City was the host to the Shinnyo Lantern Floating for Peace where thousands of New Yorkers and vistors from around the globe gathered at Lincoln Center, coinciding with the International Day of Peace and the opening of the United Nations General Assembly.

Curtis Moore was the music consultant for the event, and composed the music for the Closing Ceremonies which included a modern tribute to a traditional Shinnyo chant, as well as a surprising epic finale which combined the Juilliard String Quartet, Grammy Award winning Brooklyn Youth Ensemble, Shinnyo Taiko and Chanting Ensemble and Winton Marsalis' All-Star Band trumpeter, Alphonso Horne along with the Juilliard Jazz Ensemble.
